Football

Football, also known as soccer in some countries, is a team sport played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net, which is positioned at either end of a rectangular field known as a pitch. Players primarily use their feet to maneuver the ball, although they may also use their heads and bodies, with the exception of the goalkeeper, who can use their hands within a designated area known as the penalty area. The game is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). Football is played at various levels, including amateur, professional, and international competition, with the FIFA World Cup being one of the most prestigious tournaments in the sport. It is one of the most popular sports worldwide, known for its passionate fan base and cultural significance in many countries. The term ‘football’ can refer to different codes of the game, such as association football (soccer), American football, and others, depending on the region.
